Niagara Falls and Great Lakes Facts:


  • The falls generate over four million kilowatts of hydroelectric power, this power is shared by both the United States and Canada
  • 3,160 tons of water flows over Niagara Falls every second. Now if you do the math on this one it's: 189,600 tons per minute, 11.4 million tons per hour and over 273 million tons per day. 
  • 4 out of the 5 Great Lakes drain into the Niagara River. The Great Lakes make up approximately 21% of the world's surface freshwater supply and 84% of North America's surface freshwater supply.
